WattsUp Privacy Policy
WattsUp ("WattsUp," "we," "us," or "our") provides a cycling performance and activity-tracking application available on the web and desktop (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.
1. Who This Policy Applies To
This Policy applies to all users of WattsUp. The Service is intended for users located in the United States and is operated in accordance with applicable U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, "CCPA/CPRA"). If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
The Service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. See Section 9.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information.
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and a name or username. You may also choose to provide additional profile details.
- Communications. If you contact us for support or otherwise, we collect the information you include in your message.
- Marketing preferences. Your choices about receiving emails and other communications from us.
2.2 Cycling and Activity Data
The core purpose of WattsUp is to record and analyze your rides. Depending on how you use the Service and the equipment you connect, we may collect:
- Performance metrics such as power output (watts), speed, and cadence.
- Location and route data for outdoor rides, including GPS coordinates and routes.
- Health and fitness metrics such as heart rate, calories, distance, elevation, and related performance data.
- Device and sensor data from connected equipment such as smart trainers, power meters, heart-rate monitors, and bike computers.
Some of this information — particularly heart-rate and other health-related metrics — may be considered sensitive. We collect and use it only to provide the activity-tracking and analysis features of the Service, and we handle it as described in this Policy.
2.3 Information From Connected Services
If you choose to link third-party services to WattsUp, we receive information from those services to enable the integration:
- Strava — to sync rides and activity data to or from your Strava account.
- Garmin / Wahoo — to import ride and device data recorded on those platforms and devices.
The information we receive depends on the permissions you grant and the settings of the connected service. You can disconnect these integrations at any time, which stops future data sharing. Your use of those third-party services is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
2.4 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we and our analytics providers automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- Device and browser type, operating system, and settings.
- IP address and approximate location derived from it.
- Log data such as access times, pages or features viewed, and usage patterns.
- Cookies and similar technologies used to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and understand usage. See Section 7.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including recording, displaying, and analyzing your rides.
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- Enable integrations you choose to connect, such as Strava, Garmin, and Wahoo.
- Improve, personalize, and develop new features, and understand how the Service is used through analytics.

- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service and detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we donot share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. With vendors who perform services on our behalf — such as hosting, analytics, and email delivery — under contracts that limit their use of the information to providing those services.
- Connected services you authorize. With Strava, Garmin, Wahoo, or other services you choose to link, to the extent needed to provide the integration you requested.
- Legal and safety reasons. When required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

We do not otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Your Choices
- Account information. You can review and update your account details within the Service.
- Integrations. You can disconnect Strava, Garmin, Wahoo, or other linked services at any time.

7. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. We work with analytics providers that help us understand how users interact with WattsUp so we can improve it. These providers may collect technical and usage information through cookies and similar technologies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
